------
This photo may have been taken during the
winter of 1894-1895. The
house is said to have belonged to the Skeens, probably located at Alta Mines,
above Ophir, Colorado.
The man in the center is believed to be
Thompson B. Skeen, who was
born about 1820 in Kentucky.
The family to the left is believed to be
that of John Skeen, the
oldest son of Thompson B. Skeen. John was born July 7, 1854, and his wife
Fanny M., was born May 28, 1863. Their children were Cila, born October 1882;
Claude, born in September 1887; Jessie, born in September 1891; Albert, born
in March 1894; and Roy, born in October 1898. The Skeen children on the left
in this photo are presumed to be, from left, Albert, Claude, Cila and Jessie.
The family on the right is that of Thomas
Winfield Blackburn and his
wife Mary Elizabeth Skeen, the oldest daughter of Thompson B. Skeen. The
family members, from left, are likely 12-year-old James Walter Blackburn;
14-year-old Sylvester Blackburn; 6-year-old Anna Lydia Blackburn; mother Mary
Elizabeth; father Thomas W. Blackburn; and 4-year-old Frank Blackburn.
